Tabletop Builds was founded by a group of D&D 5E players that love to build and play the very best characters that we can. We have tens of thousands of hours of combined playtime, both with each other and in countless other groups. Many of us play other TTRPGs as well. We love this game, and created this site because few other places around the web seem to get character optimization (a.k.a. min-maxing or powergaming) exactly right.

Contributors

Content Managers

This is who is responsible for what content gets to you and when, through herding cats managing the upcoming article pipeline and keeping track of what all the contributors are working on.

Rentarou (also Webmaster, Editor) was drawn into D&D in 2018 and has been hooked ever since. He loves casting bless and making others shine. His favorite class is Paladin.

Webmasters

This team takes the material created by the writing and editing team and turns it into the webpages you see.

kobo1d (Lead Developer; also Senior Author, former Content Manager) has been a D&D player and DM since his characters had THAC0 scores, and his favorite class in 5E is the Cleric. He develops software professionally, even if you couldn’t tell from this janky website.

Authors

These authors have lead the effort to write their own articles and contributed to many more. Authors on Tabletop Builds are also editors for posts that are not their own.

Audere will blush if you compliment their paranoia.

Esker first played D&D in middle school, and got back into it many years later during its 5th edition renaissance. Their first 5E character was an Arcane Trickster Rogue, but these days they mostly play spellcasters. In real life, they teach college students quantitative skills as a statistics professor.

Haen the Heretic spends most of his time writing stories or feeling depressed about the Dodge action being underused. His favorite classes are Warlock, Wizard and Ranger. If you mention necromancy, you’ve probably already got his attention as he loves it.

Icebrick1 began playing for real in 2018 and has been running several games in multiple systems simultaneously ever since. Prefers being a DM rather than a player, but respects optimization. His favorite class is Warlock.

Lilith will hiss at you if you complain about the existence of a “meta”. Work with it, or work around it.

Majin Evelyn AKA “Mrs. Minor Conjuration” is a registered dietitian and long-time TTRPG gamer.

Moonsilver (also former Content Manager) has a degree involving linguistics and game design.

Pandaniel (also former Content Manager) is a newcomer to the TTRPG space, but from the start has had a great interest in finding exciting ways to play. He is currently working towards getting a Bachelors degree involving mathematics, however is keeping his options open to get paid to change uppercase letters to lowercase.

Quetzalcoatlus (also former Content Manager)

Tatersalad810 doesn’t really know what he’s doing but he helps write some stuff and isn’t afraid of feedback and criticism so we keep him around. 🙂 Started playing D&D in 2019 and plays spellcasters and half-casters. His favorite classes are Bards and Wizards.

TheArchonFormerlyGnownAsFargoth

Xenken had their first game of D&D in High School, and DM’d their first campaign only weeks later. Is currently on a Quest to play and learn from every edition of the games. Loves Druids.

Editors

Our editing team has one of the most invisible but critically important jobs, in making sure articles are published with only a few mistakes (and sometimes fixing old articles).

Luolang

TauNeutrino

The Pi Guy has been a Wizard player since his first character, and only rarely plays non-casting options. If there is a chart that involves lots of DPR calculations, chances are it was looked at or made by him.

Collaborators

These friends make excellent content outside of Tabletop Builds and work closely together with us to brainstorm and discuss optimization. They deserve a special shout-out.

Haen the Heretic runs a blog named form of dread, where he, according to himself, posts “A necromancy enthusiast’s mad ramblings about optimization and strategy”.

Pack Tactics has a youtube channel where he talks about optimization and works to educate the tabletop gaming community on what’s actually good.

Seacliff runs a blog named pipes of haunting, writing primarily about the Artificer.
