We have been officially doing this for a year now! Thank you all for your consistent support and feedback. We hope for an even stronger upcoming year with articles that might inspire your characters and play.
Today we will talk about some revisions to older articles, giving an update on what is to come, and some statistics of the past year! In January Wizards of the Coast released the D&D Rules Expansion Gift Set, containing Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse which brought many new variants to older D&D races more in line with the things that get released nowadays. While the book is not yet out as a standalone in retail or on D&D Beyond, many of you have been asking about our opinions on the new races that can be found within, and as such we have now updated our Race and Lineage Guide to contain not only the new variants, but also the old ones. We have also taken another look at our Twilight Domain Flagship Cleric, based on feedback from our Discord server! Furthermore, we are hard at work to figure out a new direction and outline for Class Guides, which we will hopefully continue with (and update) soon™. Lastly, we are proud to present our new Quick Builds Series, which will feature easily picked up plug-and-play builds to enjoy playing at your leisure.

Race and Lineage Guide Updates

Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse features a total of 33 races. Not every race is very different from past iterations, and some are even completely the same, but some are wholly different, and worth sharing additional insight on. Not only that, but we have also reconsidered some of the ratings we have given our races and lineages, and shuffled them a bit! Most notably, Earth Genasi from Elemental Evil’s Player Companion and Tabaxi from Volo’s Guide to Monsters have moved up, among other changes.
Below is a summary with all the races, but for a full overview with information on every race and lineage, check out our DnD 5E Optimized Race and Lineage Guide!

Twilight Domain Flagship Cleric Updates

Recently we were posed the question why we favored Clockwork Soul Sorcerer over Wizard on the variant of our Cleric Flagship and well… We realized Wizard was in fact a better choice! While the Custom Lineage option does not allow you to get enough Intelligence to get all the important reaction spells, i.e. shield, absorb elements, and silvery barbs, the variant, which makes use of a race that gives +2 to one score and +1 to another, does! Besides this, we have also changed the level 20 for this variant, as War Magic Wizard is more powerful than the alternative of the Alert feat and the gate spell.

Class Guide Update

The current Artificer Class Guide is one of the more popular articles on Tabletop Builds, and intends to give our readers a thorough and specific class guide in a practical and easy to consult format. Recently, we’ve come to the conclusion that we can improve this class guide a lot, and have started to collect your feedback to learn what we can do to make it better.
To prepare for the releases of future class guides for other classes, we are designing a new template for class guides with the following goals in mind:

  1. Improve ease of navigation.
  2. Add subclass spell ratings and a section on multiclassing.
  3. Clarify and expand the color rating system and apply it consistently.
  4. Provide clear and simple examples and visual aids to explain how to optimize using features.

We are working hard on updating the existing Artificer Class Guide and laying the groundwork for releases of other Class Guides by finetuning this template. We hope you’ll give them a read and let us know what you think.

New Quick Build Series

In conjunction with the updated Class Guides, we will be starting a new build series called the Quick Build Series. This series will present readily available character builds for each of the various subclasses within all character classes in D&D 5E. The builds will serve as easily accessible and straightforward builds that showcase and exemplify the guidelines presented in our class guides. They will act as one of the more practical tools to help readers understand the strengths of classes and their subclasses, and will be linked at the bottom of Class Guides for easy navigation.
